Usually around this time of year I’m endlessly complaining about the cold weather in New York. To my surprise, even in December the temperatures have been bearable enough for me layer lightly. For my street look in Soho I went for a bit of a collegiate vibe with minimal, yet bold stripes. I balanced the thin, red stripe in my jeans with thicker yellow and red stripes in my turtleneck sweatshirt and a tan, trench coat (all three pieces are from Zara). What’s the best quality of a wool coat? They never go out of style. I suggest getting one that will last for many years to come. I think the essential pieces are worth investing in since most of them are made with higher quality and the cuts tend to drape better against your body.
As per usual, I opted for a backpack with this look. I tend to lean towards backpacks because I prefer the mobility of having my hands free. This orange one I have is by Mifland (you can shop it here). What I love most about this bag is that it handles wear-and-tear very well. The leather is very strong and it gains more character as it ages.
